Reality Show vs. Reality TV

It's in the 1990's, that the both types of TV Shows (Reality Show and Reality TV) differ.

Indeed, the Reality Show point out ordinary people who really live extraordinary situations, like in the very famous one : COPS (1989) which follows the daily work of some troopers in USA, notably during extreme pursuits of delinquents. As for Reality TV, it shows ordinary people who live artificially some situations somewhat ordinary.

The Reality TV has known a huge development in the 2000's. Its particularly this period which will interest us in this blog... To be continued !

An American Family



The Louds

1973, the format of TV Show had been developed. This new type of TV Show became fixed in the everyday life of the viewers. Indeed, on “An American Family” we can follow the divorce of the family Loud in 12 episodes. The story took place in Santa Barbara, California, when Pat and Bill Loud separated. This reality show was listed on TV Guide’s 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time

The first reality show

In 1948, the apparition of the first TV show in ABC television (USA). After some tries on the radio, Allen Funt launched a new concept : to transform ordinary people and ordinary life in star, enough time to make audience and money, tanks to the television. This concept is illustrated in his program : Candid Camera. The subject was to film ordinary people confronted with unusual situations.
